"He needs to stand on his own feet and take a stand for himself." This statement, quoted by Malcolm X, is explaining how in order to achieve independence in a society, a body of people need to fight for themselves to achieve rights of equality. Malcolm X was a speaker for Islam who turned his life around after being released from prison at a young age; he was a huge factor in gaining racial equality. Malcolm X deserves the Achievements in Rights Award because he risked his life in order to achieve justice and independence for black Muslims, and through his radical activism, he changed the views of black equality.
